About
Albin Axelsson is established as one of the promising young Swedish pianists of his generation.
He is already an experienced soloist and has performed several times in concerto with symphony orchestras such as Norrlandsoperans Symfoniorkester (Norrlandsoperans Symphony orchestra) in concertos by Tchaikovsky, Rachmaninoff and Mozart. He will perform as a soloist with the Aarhus Symphony Orchestra in January 2025.
Prizes and Performances
Albin has received several prizes including first prize in the Aarhus Royal Academy of Music Soloist Competition 2023 and first prize in Gothenburg International Piano Competition 2021. He has played numerous solo recitals in the Nordic countries and also performed in piano festivals such as the OPUS Festival in Aarhus, the Gothenburg Piano Festival and Helsingborg Piano Festival in Sweden.
Scholarships
Albin has received many Scholarships to help him in his career, including the Karen og Arthur Feldthusens Fond for Unge Sang- og Klaverstuderende (2024, 2023), the Bræmers fond (2023), Kontorchef Arthur Andersson og Hustru Pianistinde Ellen Anderssons Legat (2023), the Royal Swedish Academy of Music local Scholarship (2022, 2021) and the Music Scholarship of Norrlandsoperan (Norrlandsoperans musikstipendium) (2017).
More Than a Soloist
Albin is not only active as a soloist but an aspiring composer. He enjoys performing his own compositions in concerts, as shown in the video to the right.
Albin is an active chamber musician and regularly performs with his piano trio, “Trio Serene”. Amongst their recent performances is a performance at the Haydn Festival in Copenhagen in 2023.
He is also starring in the album Scandinavian Wood: Northern Soundscapes for Clarinet and Piano, which was released by DaVinci Publishing in 2023 in collaboration with the clarinetist Chen Hu Jie.
Albin is passionate about teaching and inspiring the next generation of musicians. He currently offers private lessons in Aarhus, Denmark.
Current Whereabouts
Albin is currently enrolled in the Soloist programme at the Royal Academy of Music in Aarhus, Denmark, where he studies under Associate Professor Søren Rastogi. He has a master´s degree from the Royal Academy of Music in Aarhus and a bachelor’s degree in music from Ingesund School of Music in Sweden where he studied under the guidance of Mikael Kanarva, Hsin Bei-Lee, Aristo Sham, and Julia Mustonen-Dahlkvist. Albin has also received advice from world-renowned concert pianists such as Zlata Chochieva, Kevin Kenner, Emile Naoumouff, Mikail Voskresensky, Kate Liu and Gábor Farkas, among others.
